Free 3 Marla Plot Scheme

In a groundbreaking step for low-income families, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the “Apni Zameen Apna Ghar” scheme, aiming to provide free 3-marla residential plots to deserving citizens across the province. The initiative was officially unveiled on Saturday, along with a dedicated E-Portal to streamline the application process.

This ambitious program is designed to help people who have never owned property. In its first phase, 2,000 residential plots will be allotted in 19 districts of Punjab under 23 different housing schemes.

Key Features of the Scheme

  • Plot Size: 3 marla (approximately 675 square feet)
  • Total Plots in Phase 1: 2,000
  • Total Districts Covered: 19
  • Schemes Introduced: 23
  • Application Mode: Online via E-Portal

Region-Wise Distribution of Plots

  • Rawalpindi Division: 658 plots across 5 schemes
  • Faisalabad Division: 288 plots in 5 districts
  • Lahore Region: 518 plots in 3 districts
  • Bhakkar Region: 131 plots in 7 schemes
  • Multan Region: 270 plots in 5 districts
  • Bahawalpur Region: 27 plots in 3 schemes

This balanced distribution ensures that deserving families from different parts of Punjab get equal opportunities.

To qualify for the scheme, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Be a permanent resident of Punjab with a valid CNIC
  • Not own any house or plot (applicant, spouse, or dependent children)
  • Have no criminal background or record of bank loan default
  • Submit complete and accurate information in the application form

Only those who meet all conditions will be considered for allotment.

Plot Allotment Rules

Successful applicants must follow these conditions after receiving the plot:

  • Begin construction within 6 months
  • Complete construction within 2 years
  • Plots cannot be sold or transferred for 5 years
  • Non-compliance may lead to cancellation of the allotment by PHATA (Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency)

These terms are set to ensure that plots are genuinely used for building homes, not for resale or speculation.

Statement from CM Maryam Nawaz

Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said:

“The poor and deserving people have a right to government resources. Every citizen of Punjab should have their own home.”

She emphasized that this scheme is a key part of her government’s mission to provide dignified housing for every citizen in Punjab.
