Honhaar Scholarships Phase II
On December 23, 2024, CM Punjab inaugurated the 2nd Phase of Honhaar Scholarships at FAST University. These scholarships cover all educational expenses, enabling deserving students to study at prestigious institutions in Punjab. Highlights include:
- Increase in Scholarships: Annual scholarships will rise from 30,000 to 50,000.
- Scholarship Delivery: Students will receive funds in cheque form.
Achievements from Phase I
- 2,500+ Scholarships Awarded:
- Over 2,570 scholarships distributed at FAST University, benefiting 2,473 students.
- UET Lahore Beneficiaries:
- 1,886 students received scholarships, including 1,660 public sector and 637 private college students.
- Expanded Access:
- The program supports students from 65 universities, 12 medical/dental colleges, and 359 other colleges in Punjab.
Supervised & Transparent Application Process
A 3-tier community-based supervision system ensures fairness:
- Institutional Committee: Initial screening.
- Provincial Committee: Oversees selection.
- Steering Committee: Chaired by Senior Minister Mariyam Aurangzeb for transparency.
New Initiatives by CM Punjab
- 100,000 Subsidized E-Bikes:
- In addition to scholarships, 27,179 bikes will be distributed, with 20,000 petrol bikes and 7,479 e-bikes for female students.
- IT Education City in Lahore:
- Development of a hub attracting international universities, enhancing opportunities for higher education and global learning.
